Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the New York Baby Show for the first time. I had heard many things about it, but I’ve never attended. But boy am I glad that I did. I especially loved the programming content designed to educate, inform, enlighten and entertain. I sat in on the “Here Comes Toddler” seminar that was super helpful for a mom like me who knows nothing about raising a toddler. Sally Tannen, of the Parenting Center at the 92Y, chatted with two of their regular expert speakers, Liza Natale (pediatrician), and Randi Jacoby (speech therapist), on how parents can ready themselves for the transition from baby to toddler. I was all ears!
But, aside from that, there are so many other reasons to attend. Check out a few below:
1. You’ll Meet Other Moms
The New York Baby show had well over 15,000 families in attend, and because most attendees are mothers or soon-to-be-mothers the chances of you finding a mom you’ll bond with is pretty high. Even if you aren’t the type to walk up to a mom and introduce yourself, there’s a moms lounge (and even a dads lounge) where women are resting and nursing their little ones. Making it the best opportunity to chat.
2. You’ll Learn About Baby Products you Never Knew Existed
As a mother of a 9-month old, I thought I tried (or at least heard of) every baby product on the market. That was until I attended the NY Baby show. There were over 200 brands present and to say I was floored is an understatement. Here are my favorites:
Bullfrog and Butterflies Stretch Mark Prevention Cream ($30)
It’s a rich (yet lightweight) cream that absorbs instantly, dries quickly, and leaves even the most sensitive skin smooth, soft and silky all day. It’s made of hydroxyprolisilane to stimulate collagen production and elasticize skin. It also has natural emollients, vitamin E, and an anti-itch ingredient that calms and prevents discomfort and itching. I’ll be sure to use it even though I’m not pregnant.
Smushed Organics ($36 for 6–meal plan)
Smushed Organics is a weekly subscription service that creates homemade baby food for your baby and delivers to your door every Sunday. They make the food in Brooklyn on Saturday, and it’s delivered the next day. Easy, right? And, they really support health-conscious parents by only including organic ingredients.
Tidy Tots Diapers ($19.95)
Their No Fold Diapers are made of 100% organic blended hemp to offer absorbency, plus snuggly softness to boot. If you didn’t know, hemp is anti -microbial which naturally prevents bacteria growth, so diaper rash will basically never happen. Also, the flushies (liners) snap onto the No Fold Diaper, making the liner totally secure, even with an active baby like mine.

3. There’s a Cool Stroller Track
If you’ve ever walked down the stroller isle at Baby’s R Us, you know the deciding on a stroller is VERY intimidating. One of the best features of the show is the stroller test track that simulates real world obstacles including gravel, grass, bumps, gates, cobblestone, and street grates. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to “test drive” the hundreds of strollers available but just knowing that it was there was pretty awesome.
4. You Might Win Big
While there you can expect raffles and giveaways from not only the NY Baby show but also from exhibitors. I stopped at the Pello Baby booth to check out the Pello Comfy Cradle, and was asked to enter to win a $100 Amazon gift card. I didn’t win, but have the opportunity to win was exciting. I should also note that one lucky winner from the Baby Show walked away with a dream nursery from Babyletto. Nice!
